How it all started
In 2013 I made a promise to my wife Teresa that, Friendship Baptist Church in North Charleston SC would be my last full-time pastorate. Both our sons were now adults and on their own, and we were at a point in life that some things needed to change for a variety of reasons, one being our health. Over the next few years, I would have several surgeries due to injuries I incurred playing college football, and for Teresa, she has some lasting effects from a brain tumor in 2011.
As I began my ministry at Friendship I had no doubt God would do a great work, and I believed my time there would be about 10-years in length. The plan was to do at Friendship what I had at other churches. My work in particular would be to bring some sense of restoration and healing to the congregation, all the while leaving the next pastor in an advantageous position to take the church to the next level of ministry. Once my work was complete, the ministry plan was to return to biblical counseling.
Let's go back a little further. I attended Liberty University in the early '80s and my major field of study was clinical psychology. I had thought once I was finished at LU I would attend graduate school and obtain my Master of Arts in clinical psychology, which I began at Appalachian State but God had other plans. To make a long story short, I left my classes at App State and eventually ended up in seminary at what was Piedmont Bible College (Carolina University). I later finished my MBS and DBS online through Andersonville Theological Seminary. My counseling skills were put to the test in each of my church pastorates during the next 30-years. God's leading always seemed to be to congregations in need of great pastoral care. So, I was sure after a couple of years at Friendship, I, in a sense saw the "writing on the wall," yet without the fear and trepidation of Belshazzar, (if you don't get the reference read Daniel 5).
So, in August of 2018, two years before I would depart Friendship Baptist Church, I began the ministry of Christ-Centered Solutions Inc with five other pastors serving as the ministry's Board of Directors. Rev. Joey Canady, Dr. Don Caswell, Dr. Jimmy Fuller, Dr. Al Smith, and Rev. Mark Webb are all long-time friends and ministry partners. These men help to oversee the ministry of CCS and hold me accountable for the service we provide. Each of these men believes in the mission of Christ-Centered Solutions, and supports the vision of creating a network of Christians in the local church ministering to other Christians in need of soul care.

Expanding the vision...
By 2030 we hope to create twenty-five biblical counseling centers throughout the southeast. These centers will provide both soul care and training to local churches with the purpose of allowing trained lay ministers to assist their pastors in meeting the spiritual and emotional needs of their congregations.
We also have a goal of establishing a short-term care center for pastors and ministers who are experiencing burnout, fallen sin, or struggling with spiritual, emotional, or relationship issues. Our intention is to help renew and restore pastors.
